13. How long does a typical tour take?
Total time may vary depending on number of people in your group. Each tour tour is broken down as follows: 1) one hour drive from Chiang Mai; 2) 30 minutes upon arrival for orientation and gearing up; 3) 3 hours in the forest completing the course; 4) one hour for lunch (traditional Thai buffet) and chilling at our beautiful facility (you can even take a quick hot shower if you wish); 5) one hour drive back to location of choice in Chiang Mai.
14. What are the physical requirements for your tour?
Pretty well everyone can participate. Our course involves some easy to moderate physical activity with easy workarounds for obstacles if desired. Our tour is not recommended for for pregnant women or people with heart, back, hip or knee problems.
15. How much walking is involved?
Not much at all. Your adventure starts at our office where you hop in a four-wheel drive vehicle for a picturesque drive through the forest to the crest of the mountain. From there, you will head up a few stairs to the "launching pad". During the course there are a few, short jungle paths connecting some stations.
16. How should I dress?
Please wear shoes or hiking boots. Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended (pants or long shorts are best). Sandals are strongly discouraged and only permitted if they strap around the ankles. Flip flops are NOT allowed.
17. Will we encounter wildlife on our tour?
We have encountered many different varieties of animals, birds, insects, reptiles, and (of course) thousands of flying squirrels at our facilities. However, we cannot guarantee specific wildlife. If wildlife is your thing, you can always purchase a ticket to Tiger Kingdom
or one of the many elephant sanctuaries
around Chiang Mai.
18. Does your tour operate in the cold or rain?
We sure do. We’re out there rain or shine, hot or cold (cold is 20 degrees celsius in Northern Thailand). The only exceptions are extreme winds and torrential rain. Full refunds will be granted if any closures occur while visitors are on tour.
19. Is it possible to walk around and take pictures without going on the tour?
Those not participating are permitted to watch and take pictures on the first and last stations only (starting and finishing points). The reality is it's impossible to walk along the entire course because of the terrain and the number of deep ravines. For your safety we ask that you stay within all designated zones.
20. Do you donate zip line tours for fundraising events?
Yes. Flying Squirrels actively supports our community with donations for certain organizations and events. However, due to the high number of requests, we ask that all charitable enquiries be directed to: firstname.lastname@example.org
